Welcome to Tuscarora Yacht Club

The Commodore, Board of Directors, and Members of TYC cordially extend a warm welcome to all visiting boaters from clubs with whom we share reciprocal agreements. Tuscarora Yacht Club’s beautiful location, facilities, and friendly membership make it a premier destination for many boaters on Lake Ontario.   All visiting boaters are encouraged to view and download our Visitor Information brochure for details of our facilities and policies, as well as a list of the amenities available at local businesses in the neighboring Town of Wilson, NY.

We hope your stay with us will be both pleasant and memorable. Please visit us again!

Our Location

TYC is conveniently located on Clark Island on the port side of the main channel just inside the entrance to Wilson Harbor in Wilson, New York. Extensive dredging was conducted in Wilson Harbor in 2021 which has improved harbor accessibility. Please be cognizant of the red nun buoy as you enter the harbor just past the two break walls; it marks a shoal to your starboard.

Checking In

Visitors are asked to hail ‘Tuscarora Yacht Club’ on VHF channel 68 prior to entering Wilson Harbor to inquire if dock space is available. Upon arrival, visitors should tie up at the TYC gas dock, then register at the Stewards’ Office. Reservations are not accepted and all visitors are accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Stewards are on duty daily at TYC and will assist visitors with docking. We accept credit cards only for all transactions.

Dockage

TYC can accommodate boats up to 43 feet and drafts up to 6 feet. Along with the dredging completed in Wilson Harbor in 2014, most TYC slips were also dredged. TYC does not have dedicated visitor slips. Visitors will be assigned to empty slips or the slips of traveling members.   Slip assignments are made by the Steward or the Officer of the Day; their decision is final. TYC reserves the right to move a visiting boat to another slip if necessary.   Potable water and 20 or 30 amp power are available dockside. There are no mooring facilities at TYC. Boats may not be left unattended overnight.

Reciprocal Policy

TYC offers docking privileges to all boaters who are full members of any yacht club with whom TYC shares reciprocity, subject to availability.   Membership cards must be presented.   TYC’s reciprocal rate is $10.00 per night with a maximum stay of three nights. The maximum number of stays in one year is at the discretion of TYC. Social memberships will not be honored.

Reciprocal Clubs

The yacht clubs to whom TYC has offered reciprocal privileges is provided in our interactive list of Reciprocal Clubs.   An up-to-date binder of letters received from clubs offering reciprocity to TYC in return is maintained in the Stewards’ Office.   These letters may be viewed by TYC members at any time.

Reciprocal Information for TYC Members

Any TYC member who anticipates a trip to another reciprocal club is encouraged to visit that club’s website for a complete explanation of their reciprocal policy. Reciprocal club websites are provided on the list of reciprocal clubs above.   Additional information regarding clubs affiliated with the Lake Ontario Club Cruising Association (LOCCA) can be found on the LOCCA Website.

When traveling to other clubs, our members will be expected to carry their TYC membership cards and present them upon arrival.   Some clubs also ask that visitors fly their home club burgees.
